Introducing Hovding, a bicycle helmet unlike any other currently on the market. It’s ergonomic design turns an otherwise bulky safety item into a practical and fashionable accessory, subtle enough to blend in with what ever you’re wearing.
Worn around the neck, Hovding is a collar containing an airbag ready to eject should there be an accident. Shaped like a hood, the airbag pops out (much like a cars airbag) to completely surround and protect the head. The trigger mechanism is controlled by sensors which pick up the abnormal movements of a bicyclist upon impact in an accident.
“If people say it’s impossible we have to prove them wrong.” What started as an exam project some 7 years ago turned into 10 million dollars of venture capital and years of research for Design students Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin.
